Come, creative sister, and join author Anita Revel on this writing and creativity retreat. Nurtured by the influence of Mnemosyne – the mother of memory – we will delve into your experiences, long-forgotten dreams, unspoken yearnings and subliminal life-changing moments. Together, we will reclaim your memories – reframe them if necessary – and weave your story with style and grace.
We open the weekend's activities on a Friday evening. You can begin arriving from 2pm to settle in to your beautiful room and surroundings. At 6pm we will gather and share our writing projects, our intentions, and a delicious home-cooked meal. We will celebrate our sharing with a special fire and sound ceremony, which will entertain us, cut loose our niggles and get the creative juices flowing.
On Saturday morning you can wake at your leisure and enjoy a scrumptious breakfast of cereals, pastries, fruit, bacon and eggs. This will let your body relax while your soul soars throughout a crystal bowl meditation – a perfect way to unlock your creative centre ready for the first workshop.
In our first workshop, Anita Revel introduces us to the Greek goddess Mnemosyne – the mother of memory and the nine muses. Mnemosyne teaches us to remember and cherish our unique journeys, both good times and bad.
In cherishing and re-telling our stories we create a legacy that is truthful, magical and sacred. Via a combination of story-telling, guided visualisation, automatic writing and sharing, you will emerge from the workshop with the unravelled threads of your story ripe and ready for the re-weaving process. You can either re-work an existing project during this workshop, or be open to new material that will emerge organically.
You will have plenty of time between sessions to enjoy a nutritious home-made lunch. There will also be time to relax, chat, journal, take a stroll to the river, or have one-on-one consults with Anita about your writing projects.
The second workshop continues on with the theme of memory, and weaving your legacy using the words and images revealed to you in the first workshop. This workshop is a combination of theory, structure and practical examples of excellent story-telling.
Together we will co-create your killer opening line and your compelling first paragraph that will set the scene for the rest of your project. As your story unfolds, word by word and line by line, Mnemosyne will be your guide. She will coax you to recollect your journey, recall both the wonderful and the icky moments, recognise the beautiful being you were born to be, and relearn how to apply your life lessons for a happy ending.
Once again, you will have time to absorb, reflect, enjoy a healing, eat and chat before we embark on a weaving exercise. The baskets we create will symbolise the re-weaving of our own stories, supported by the powerful healing energy which flows freely between members of a group engaged in a communal basket weaving experience.
Once again, enjoy a slow morning, indulging in a home-cooked nutritious breakfast.
We will then have an enormous amount of fun in a wildly creative workshop involving paint, feathers, glitter and more than a few surprises! Perhaps you will produce your next book cover, a journey map to guide you in bringing this project to a satisfying and wonderful completion, or at least a reminder of where and who you were at this point in time.
We then share our final meal as a group, after which there will be an hour's gathering with Anita.
At this time we can share our work, what we intend for this work, (perhaps accept some constructive critiquing and shared visions), and commit to a unique, personal promise to Self. It is this promise that you will take away with you, that will form your foundation in your writing and creative pursuits. This promise is housed in the heart of Mnemosyne, your story-keeper and mother of your memory.
Go well, knowing you are safe, sacred and worthy of such glory.
